If you are still having problems refer to 'tailgate wont unlock / open' topic in this forum. When you get to the bit about the whole lock mechanism coming out then check it out at the bottom you will find a micro switch. It may only need adjusting or grud removal. Cost? pennies, time about 2 hours.

Its not a five minute job but you can completely disassemble the lock mechanism and thereby open the tailgate. I just did it on my V70 XC (Year 2000). You will need the following:
T25 Torx screwdriver or socket.
T40 Torx head driver preferably in an Allen key format i.e. an 'L' shape tool.

I have dents in both the front fender (wing) on the drivers side and the drivers door panel. The wing looks like its just a bolt on part. Will the door panel need to be welded?

The dents cannot be pulled as they are more of a deep scratch so the invisible dent removal company option is not an ...
