rattle in reverse
1989 240 DL Sedan, automatic. Shifter rattles/knocks when car is in reverse. Doesn't happen in any other gear. Seems to shift and drive fine. Someone thought this might be worn bushings? knock knock knock in reverse
I have a 1989 240DL Sedan, automatic transmission. A few days ago we noticed a distinct knock or rhythmic vibration coming from gear shift when the car is in reverse; we don't notice the problem at all in other gears.

Success! (For now...)
I did an initial check on fuses... all looked fine but the problem persisted. So I just bought new ones and replaced them all. Check engine light is now off, and the car is staring fine. Diagnostics codes came out 1-1-1 for checks on both the fuel and ignition system. So for now... I hope the proble...

Fuel Inj. Fault Codes - How to check?
I have a 1989 240DL sedan and would like to learn how to check the diagnostic codes. One reference sit indicated I should be able to locate a little b;ack box with a wire, LED light and button on it... but the only box I can find has no light and no button. Can someone help me better understand what...
