Re: Tie Rod replacement

If you are in New England, can't go wrong with FCPGroton. 9 times out of 10, they'll have it to your door before Autozone or Napa will even have it in stock. And then there is the fact it's usually much cheaper and better quality. I'm south of Boston and so long as I place my order before 2pm, I hav...

Re: CV Boot dead...should I just do the axle?

Well, definitely not afraid to get dirty. I restore old cars for my hobby. I always look at things from a time and material price viewpoint. I do my own work on my older cars because I'm too cheap to pay a mechanic. I also have the tools and general know how. I was originally going to do just the bo...

CV Boot dead...should I just do the axle?

So, even after following the instructions for strut replacement, I got cocky on the 2nd strut (have done this a few times) and didn't protect my CV Boot. Low and behold, I had some issues with the strut and it landed on the CV Boot. Looked fine, drove for a few weeks with no issues. Then the other d...

Anyone here have access to radio codes?

I need the code for my V70 GLT. I bought it used and there is no code written down in the manual. I had to replace the PNP switch over the weekend and pulled the battery. My nearest dealer is requiring me to drive down to them to get the radio code. Of course, that's an 1.5 hour round trip from work...

Re: Inner Tie Rod Replacement, Reuse Outer?

https://www.matthewsvolvosite.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=26440 has two links a few responses down. Only things I varied from these instructions with was the counterhold and cutting the bellows. I was able to cut the strap on the bellows and reused the original. Also, I didn't use a counterho...

Coolant Level Sensor

If it's not one thing, it's another. Almost got my V70 GLT back together from all it's work and my S70 T5 coolant light came on today. No blinking occasionally, just straight up on. Now, I was only about 1/4 mile from home and since I saw no smoke and noticed to temp change on the car, I finished go...

Re: Whistling Turbo

Mine whistles more now in cold weather, but once warmed up barely audible if at all.

Original turbo with 210k miles on it.

Re: Time for a new PNP switch?

I saw the write up about rebuilding the switch.

My question, were guys having the same issue with reverse lights? I guess I don't really lose anything from trying it and I still have the car mostly torn down to that point so it won't be too hard to do.

Re: Time for a new PNP switch?

Yeah, I hear you about the weather. I did an inner tie rod, air pump, and check valve this weekend. None to warm. Luckily I have a very warm and thick pair of coveralls back from my Marine Inspection days. I was going to pull it into my garage, but one bay is my general workshop and the other bay ha...

Time for a new PNP switch?

I have no blinking arrow but I have no reverse lights. Granted, it's been like that for awhile now but since I need to get the car inspected I actually have to deal with it now. I used to be able to get them on pushing the shifter all the way forward but that no longer works (hasn't worked for awhil...
