Re: What's your gas mileage?

Well I just took our first "highway" trip in the S70 - no Interstate, just 2-lane blacktop (or more to the point, "whitetop" up here in the snow-covered North Country!), but averaging @ 55-60mph, over 125 miles I got a decent 25.1mpg :). Not bad. We'll see how it does during the ...

What's your gas mileage?

Just got my first Volvo about a month ago - a 1998 S70 w/ 132K on it. So far the car has been great - starts instantly - even at 25 below zero - great snow car (w/ 4 hakkepalita nokian snows), idles, runs well, good acceleration etc. But my gas mileage has been disappointing - I'm getting about 12-1...

Re: No whipers/washer on S70

It turned out to be just a loose connection in the plugin from the wiper/washer arm switch - an easy fix :)

'98 S-70: Topping off the tank?

Being new to Volvo I still have lots to learn. Our other car is a Subaru Outback and it specifically says in the owners manual "do not 'top off' the fuel tank when filling up" - ie once the filler unit detects backflow and shuts down the the flow from the service station pump, don't try sq...

Re: '98 S-70. gasing up w/ engine running: fault code?

Yes, the evap system monitors pressure in the fuel tank and emission system by pumping or vacuuming air to determine even the slightest of gas fume leaks that may effect the environment. Please do not gas up with the car running. The light will continue to to return if you do. It is also a safety h...

'98 S-70. gasing up w/ engine running: fault code?

My S 70 , which I've only had for about a week, had the "check engine" light come on the other day. I had my local mechanic run a basic diagnostic on the OBD II. After reading the codes, he asked if I had either gassed up while the engine was running or had left the gas cap loose. I said I...

Re: 1998 S70, Aftermarket wheels: w/o alignment hole. Safety?

No, it's just there to line everything up to make it easier to install the wheel, as you have discovered. If you have room behind the wheel in that area, you can install a conventional bolt in place of the stud to hold the disc in alignment with the hub. Thanks. That's what I thought, but being new...

1998 S70, Aftermarket wheels: w/o alignment hole. Safety?

Just got a set of alloy wheels with snows for my 1998 S70. When I went to mount them I discovered the alignment pin in the stock wheel hubs. The new alloys don't have the "extra" hole in them to match up with the pin. It seems that the purpose of this pin is to keep the stud hole lined up ...
