Re: '99 V70XC Changing Spark Plug wires

Sorry, I'm not sure what you mean "unplug the injector" The experiment I did seems pretty sound (it was suggested on another auto site). If I plug the wire in for cylinder 2 into cylinder 3, cylinder 3 fires correctly and cylinder 2 is the only error. This seems to pretty clearly prove that the igni...

'99 V70XC Changing Spark Plug wires

I wrote about a P0303 code the other day. Following advice on this forum, I performed some tests and was able to determine it is not the spark plug or ignition coil since plugging in a different wire (from cylinder 2) into cylinder 3 correctly fired cylinder 3 and the error moved to cylinder 2 (whic...

Re: V70XC '99 Engine code P0303-cylinder 3 misfire

I just realized that I don't really have evidence that supports that I need a new spark plug or ignition coil. When I plugged the cable for cylinder 2 into cylinder 3, cylinder 3 fired correctly and the error shifted to cylinder 2. That suggests that the plug and the ignition coil on cylinder 3 are ...

Spark plug question

It looks like on mine there are 10mm bolts holding the aluminum cooling element down (although it is not clear to me that you actually have to remove the bolts to remove the portion that blocks access to the cylinders). When I was in there yesterday I didn't notice the 10mm bolt holding the ignition...

Re: V70XC '99 Engine code P0303-cylinder 3 misfire

I just tried the advice above and seem to have narrowed it down to either the cylinder 3 ignition coil or ignition wire. If I bought just a single ignition coil, how would I cut off the one that is there and install the new coil? I realize this is a pretty newbie question but I have never done that ...

Re: V70XC '99 Engine code P0303-cylinder 3 misfire

Thanks for the advice. I believe the '99 does have ignition coils. They are under the aluminum cooling bar so I haven't seen them first hand yet. My gas mileage dropped 5mph and the car has very little power. I like the idea of swapping the ignition coils. Thanks to both of you for the advice. Now I...

V70XC '99 Engine code P0303-cylinder 3 misfire

Driving to work this morning my check engine light started blinking. I pulled off the highway and checked the code. It was throwing a P0103 and the ever-present P0113. The P0113 is probably unrelated as this has been on for a while and there was no apparent malfunctions as a result. Been meaning to ...

V70XC '99 IAT Sensor-parts I see don't look like mine

Hi all, if you've followed some of my other posts you know i am getting a P0113 error code. I've tried cleaning the electrical contacts on my IAT Sensor. I am going to buy a new one. BUT the picture I find does not look exactly like the one in my car. It is close, but if the picture is correct it wo...

Re: V70XC '99 Engine code P1175 after reconnecting battery

Hi Andrew, That is certainly possible, but I have some evidence that suggest that might not be what happened. The reason I say this is I've been getting the P0113 code for a month or two prior to the power cable breaking. During that month I have taken it out and attempted to clean the electrical co...

Re: V70XC '99 Engine code P1175 after reconnecting battery

I think I found the problem. It appears while we were inspecting the IAT Sensor we didn't seat it back in correctly. So when I looked under the hood the IAT sensor was not in place leaving an open hole in the air intake manifold. I reseated the IAT sensor and cleared the error codes. The car ran fin...
