Re: 2008 xc70 park brake module

I suspect the module requires a software download from Volvo to program it. Like many other modules, for example the electronic rear view self-dipping mirror, in this instance there are three levels of dimming that can be programed through vida. When I first started using vida on my xc I could read ...

Re: One bottle of Toyota T-IV in a transmission with original fluid

I'm going to stick my oar in here and rock the boat! My 01 XC70 is on 161,000 miles. I have always driven it hard, tow boats and caravans and I have done ALL my own work not just maintenance but major renewals like suspension (control arms, struts). I forget how many times I have done the Gibbon's f...

Re: What is Care by Volvo? How to own a car without owning it

Not for me - years ago in my father's time in UK we were adverse to debt and credit cards (just another name) and most people had very little disposable income, indeed most didn't have bank a/c s or a telephone or washing machine, let alone a car. It was termed here "living on the never, never". Wel...

Re: What did you do to your P2 Volvo today....now sticky!!

IMG_0134.jpg Teach me to look at this excellent site at breakfast! Out and busy several times cross country about 30 miles. Parked up at home off loaded tools to garage and saw transmission fluid leaking (dripping) under front sole plate. So off with front bumper after engine bay inspection and ins...

Re: Brakes a bit squidgy

Another question: what did you top up the power steering with ATF? If so that's wrong it should bee CHFS II which is bright green and not very viscous - there were errors in some early Volvo handbooks saying 'use ATF' (red) using ATF will destroy the 'O' ring seals - no more power steering!

Re: Preventative/regualr maintenance for S60 T5 w/Auto

That's all true but there is another component on the shedual for change at the same time/miles interval and I have found many don't know about it. It's the alternator pully (AOC) which has a ratchet like mechanisum for preventing over-run. This is somewhat difficult to replace in situe (but doable ...
