Thought I would jump in and ask a question as well. I use to own an 850 and loved it. Looking at buying a 2002 S40 with low mileage (68000) for my 16 year old son. Can I expect the reliability of the S40 to be as good as my 850 and is the tranny still the weak link.

You may want to try some MAF sensor cleaner on it. It is like break cleaner, only won't harm the plastics. Just spray it off and let it dry. It did wonders for the performance of my 850...

A friend suggested the same thing to me but I can buy a new radiator at a reasonable price and not have to jerry rig the hoses..It just keeps it cleaner...and getting a tranny cooler to fit the hoses with out changing them out may not be as easy at it sounds.

I did an engine/tranny swap on my '94 shortly after purchasing it. The hardes thing about it was the bloody wiring harness with the bolting up of the A/C unit a close second ( I had unbolted it and let it hang to avoid discharging it).
