This helps ALOT! Seems like an easy switch. I apparently lost the whole drop link yesterday. Must've been hanging by a thread. I've circled what part I'm talking about in charlyW's picture.
Thanks!

850 Driver Side Control Arm?
Hey all - 1. I feel recently my 850 has been riding a little lower on the front driver side than the front passenger side. 2. Two days ago, clunk, clunk, clunk. I got out turned the wheel completely to the right to notice what looked like some type of an arm disconnected at the top and banging on th...

Re: Help on 1995 850 GLT oil leak diagnosis
I left the dipstick a teeny weeny bit loose, I'd rather not have to do the rear crank seal or whatever blows out. Is this ok to do, and will it blow oil out of the dipstick hole while driving? I'm considering doing this, frankly because I don't want to do all the PCV work since my car is old with h...

Re: Help on 1995 850 GLT oil leak diagnosis
As has been described, The 850's don't have a PCV Valve, they have a PCV "System" that is about as complicated as the space shuttle. Search through the repair database under PCV for more details. It really isn't that bad of a job except for one nut on the intake manifold that hides behind...

Re: '99 V70 Fuel Door Won't Open
This happened on my '95 850, and I basically pried it open until I realized that when I locked the doors it also locked the gas tank cover. Fortunately for me a couple times of locking/unlocking the doors it opened. It actually concerns me that this can happen at any time. Was this a feature from Vo...

Re: Help on 1995 850 GLT oil leak diagnosis
 why would you pour strange substances down random openings in the engine? Just go ahead and replace the oil filler cap gasket first. It's cheap and easy and will fix that leak. Then see if the pcv is working, It might be just fine. Rather than relying on seeing smoke come out of it, ...

Re: Help on 1995 850 GLT oil leak diagnosis
That's actually not a PCV valve. I don't think our Volvos have a PCV valve on them, at least like my wife's VW does. Go drive your car 15 mins or so then pull the dipstick tube (with it still running). Use the throttle linkage to the right of the motor and rev it. Chances are you'll see white-ish s...

Re: Help on 1995 850 GLT oil leak diagnosis
The gasket's right on that oil filler cap right there. But first, if you have excess PCV system pressure, that system needs to be cleaned before you plop a new gasket on there. Right now, that pressure's blowing out the oil cap rather than your engine seals, which are much much harder to get to. Bl...

Help on 1995 850 GLT oil leak diagnosis
Alright - I have an idea of why there's an excess mount of oil here in the engine, but I'd like to entertain some ideas. From what I've heard there's a gasket around the engine (found after removing surrounding bolts) that needs to be replaced. The car has est. 170k miles on it. Thanks for the help....

Re: Help on a 2000 S70 purchase...
I took the car in question to my mechanic yesterday, and there were a couple things he noticed right off the bat before even lifting the car. 1.) The rear 1/4 panel had been previously painted and possibly replaced. If this is true they did a pretty good job of it, although this wouldn't effect my d...
