Is the flare nut wrench absolutely necessary? Or can I heat it up and channel lock it? Wait a minute, isn't brake fluid flammable?

I too have an almost identical situation(p1133 & p1171):
-Newer ETM
-Newer MAF
-no vacuum leaks
But recently I've been smelling gas near my tank and it turns out my fuel sending unit is leaking. I really don't know yet if they are related.

I say spend the 500 with xemodex and be done with it. I did at roughly 160,000(2000 xc70) and it has run like a dream ever since(currently @ 210,000).
