Re: Welp... I want another 850... Maybe this time's the charm?

So I got two replies: I asked what year it was and if it was currently driveable: “96 no turbo yes turns on and is drivable just that the idle acts up" Then asked what color the smoke was: “The color it smokes is black " Looks like tune-up and injectors. I'm going to offer him $400 to &quo...

Welp... I want another 850... Maybe this time's the charm?

So, it's been about 8 years since I've been here. I have yet to land another 850 BUT that could possibly change in the next few days depending on what you guys say. There's an 850 Wagon up for sale on Offerup for only $500. The owner says "Smokey exhaust with rough idle." My question is: W...

Re: back for another 850...

You can get cam sensors used on Ebay or at a pull-a-part for really cheap. I got 2 for less than $20 at a pull-a-part in Tennessee. After the cam sensor is replaced you may have to treat the car for sweedish lawnmower syndrom. Put a teaspoon of motor oil in each cylinder put plugs back in and crank...

back for another 850...

Well, I'm back... And I'm in the market for another 850. A few weeks ago I found what looked to be a decent 95 Turbo on Craigslist for a couple thousand. Fast forward to now and the same car is now listed for only $1200, but it's developed a problem in the last few weeks. Apparently, the cam sensor ...

Re: PORSCHE IMPLICATION IN THIS ENGINE

During the development years of the 850 model, it took Volvo engineers some 10 years to introduce the first ever FWD car: the 850. Volvo wanted more than 4 cylinders but less than 6 cylinders, so Porsche engineers helped them with B52xx (B5254 etc.) engine development in the early 1990s. Search old...

Re: looking at getting another volvo - 850 Turbo or S70?

For me, it would be a 98 S70 T5 or GLT. I like the minor styling changes of the S/V/70 over the 850 and 98 was the last year for mechanical throttles. Plus they are somewhat newer (by one or more year - obviously). Mileage, of course, is going to vary greatly regardless of the year. I have always r...

looking at getting another volvo - 850 Turbo or S70?

I got rid of my 850... Entirely too many problems with it. ... Now I'm looking at getting another one... Or an S70... I can't decide on which to get! I do know I want a turbo or T5/T5-R, but the latter is extremely scarce in my area and turbos are easy to find. What should I look for in either? At w...
