Thank you for your replies.
It turned out to be the starter, even though the starter was new last year.
I have also developed other problems with the car, and am not going to fix it.
I am in the process of selling the car, and buying something else.

Re: 850R suddenly will not turn over at all.
I brought the Volvo to a repair shop, and they fixed a wiring problem, but have no record of what was done. I was coming back from Concord NH yesterday, and stopped in Amherst for a quick lunch. I came back out , and the car started doing the same thing it did last July. I turn the key, the car will...

Re: 850R suddenly will not turn over at all.
Ok, so the car does not start in neutral. I was turning the key hard, and that was the clicking, my bad there.
I am headed out to dive into that PNP, and will get back with results.

Re: 850R suddenly will not turn over at all.
I had the battery tested today, and it is fine. I replaced the ignition switch yesterday, and still did not solve anything. I called a shop that specializes in European cars, and they said that the P N P switch may be the culprit. I did not mention that since this problem has occured, I have to over...

Re: 850R suddenly will not turn over at all.
Sorry for the confusion, I meant the starter is putting out 14.7 volts.
I will have the batt checked next.
I replaced the ignition module, and the same thing. This only leaves the battery and the CPU. Other than that the problem is most certainly gremlin related.

Re: 850R suddenly will not turn over at all.
I would like to thank everyone for their input. I did not check the wires to the fuel injection system, that is not the problem Prior to this incident everything was perfect. I have ruled out the following: Coil, starter, alternator, battery, engine. I am beginning to point my suspicions towards the...

Re: 850R suddenly will not turn over at all.
Thank you jblackburn for your reply. I cleaned / inspected all of the positive / negative cables. I also cleaned all of the connections at the starter. Despite all of my efforts, the problem still persists. I saw this problem on a 760 turbo, and it turned out to be the power stage on that car. Do th...

850R suddenly will not turn over at all.
Hello again. Last Friday I had got out with my 96' 850R wagon. The car has been running great, not missing one beat. I went to start the car, and the starter gear was stuck to the flywheel. I had the car towed home, and had the starter tested. The starter is charging 14.7 volts. I lubed the starter ...

Re: Mysterious wiring problem
All set.
It was a combo of the loose wire and moisture in the coil.
I disconnected the battery and sprayed carb cleaner in the coil, and wiped out the moisture / gunk.

Re: Mysterious wiring problem
Ok, here's where I stand as of now. I turned out that the green wire to the starter had popped off. The car now turns over, but doesn't fire. Also, the gray relay near the intercooler inlet (I think the fan relay) buzzes and vibrates. I am going to check the fuel rail for fuel. If there is fuel gett...
