Re: Sudden Overboost Condition
I don't have the stock one anymore. I've had the HD one on for about 10k miles and no problems. I'll check the lines, but it seems that I've sprung a pretty large oil leak now, and my priorities have shifted. I think it's coming off of the camshaft position sensor, but I'm not sure.

Sudden Overboost Condition
So I was driving the XC today, and as I was going up a hill I glanced over at my boost gauge and saw the needle sitting at about 10-11 psi. About 10 seconds later my check engine light came on, for what I'm guessing is whatever code is Overboost. Car runs perfect, just makes about 11 psi on a LPT. A...

Re: Compressor Bypass Valve Replacement
Looks like I found one on ebay. Someone was selling one off of a Dodge Neon SRT4 which has a Mitsubishi TD04 turbo on it. Looks just like the one I threw away last week...lessons learned I guess. The dealer told me that you had to replace the turbo and the the diaphram can't be replaced. Silly deale...

Compressor Bypass Valve Replacement
Well, I'm trying to sell my XC, and due to the fact that I live in the great state of California, I can't smog it with the BOV on it. My problem is that I threw away the housing for the CBV and can't find a new one. Does anyone know where I can order one of these? The dealer was no help, and the sal...

Re: 1998 XC70 Front End Clunking While Turning
Don't forget the motor mounts!
That ended up being the cause of my mystery front end clunk on my 98 XC. I found this out by replacing the sway bar links, ball joints and control arms, and drivers side axle. XC front ends are a lot of fun...

Re: Volvo 850 steering slack, excessive play and looseness
The only poly mounts I put in were the upper mount (the rubber bushing that goes into it, blue poly bushing from IPD), and the transmission mount bushing (again, blue poly bushing from IPD). The firewall mount is OEM (other side of the engine top mount) and the passenger side mount was OEM. It was $...

Re: motor oil effects on performance
I've always used Mobil 1 in every vehicle I've ever owned. Cars, motorcycles, compressors, everything. My XC has been using Mobil 1 since it was brand new and after 3000 miles on it, it still looks brand new. I've also been using Fram oil filters and never had a problem. The only vehicle I've ever n...

Re: Volvo 850 steering slack, excessive play and looseness
Ok, so I got everything put in this weekend. Took about 2 hours, and was pretty easy. The tranny mount was toast, and the upper motor mount was getting pretty bad. I think the culprit was the mount on the fire wall though. It was beyond toast and pretty much fell apart when I took it out. I've put a...

Re: Which seller uses better quality PCV kit?
When I did my PCV on my 850 about a year and a half ago, I got it from FCP. Everything was genuine Volvo except the elbow from the block to the seperator. Within 10 miles of driving that elbow melted and I went to the dealer and got a genuine Volvo one. No problem after that.

Re: switching to Evans waterless coolant
Volvo coolant is a blue-ish color. It costs about $32 for a gallon and then you mix that 50/50 with distilled water so you get two gallons for $32. If your coolant is brown, you may want to get your cooling system checked out. I used the Volvo coolant in my 850 when I changed the water pump and did ...
