Re: A/C Actuator Motor Calibration Shortcut
I never used the procedure jimmy57 describes above.

Re: A/C Actuator Motor Calibration Shortcut
I would make the new one full left. That would make it match the hole the shaft has to go into it when you install it. If unsure, You might put one screw in it and test and try to test it.
Keep in mind I'm doing this from memory but I have done two Volvos using this method and they both worked well.

Re: A/C Actuator Motor Calibration Shortcut
I bought a new one I think. But I would not be against trying a used one. Sorry, no photos available. I sold the car. Don't do anything to the old one. Its most probably in the correct position if its clicking. Its a bit like setting a clock. Make both point the same way using the old one as the sta...

Re: A/C Actuator Motor Calibration Shortcut
Basically that's it. The trick is to match the setting of the old one to the new. You can do this several ways. I used a straight edge to mark the old one accurately and used the battery to move the new one to match.

Re: A/C Actuator Motor Calibration Shortcut
I used a flexible shaft nut driver. It took some doing. I also used a 1/4 size ratchet with the flexible shaft. Only one was removable with a straight shaft. Getting the screws back in is a task also. Put some plastic or aluminum foil across the hump to block screws that drop from going under the ca...

Re: A/C Actuator Motor Calibration Shortcut
Nice write up! Wish I had seen it before I started. I used super glue to attach one of the more difficult screws to the torque driver! Silly putty a good idea also. The Blend Actuator on the passenger side of the 2000 S70 is a real pain to get to! Mirror helps.

Re: A/C Actuator Motor Calibration Shortcut
Additional: I examined the old actuator rather than throwing it away. (Snap off the 4 plastic clips and remove the 3 screws). The failure mode is slipping gears. But the gears looked good! There was a lot of plastic dust in the gear valleys and a lot of grease on the position feelers. I think it is ...

A/C Actuator Motor Calibration Shortcut
Had a clicking A/C Blend motor, mainly around the 72 degree setting. One problem with installing a replacement has always been the calibration. But that requires taking it to the dealer ($$$!). I found that you could match the shaft position of the old Actuator with the new one by simply using a 9 v...

Re: Drivers door power window switch repair
A can of Radio Shack contact cleaner and a can of compressed air (used for electronics) from Wal Mart really improved the process. Thanks for the instructions. It makes all the difference.

2000 S70 ETM Code P1657 Fixed
I have been trying to fix a code P1657 on a 2000 Volvo S70 for about a week. No other symptoms at all. Finally noticed that the ETM warning light was not lighting up on start. I first thought someone cut the wire but I got lucky. The bulb had been moved to a slot not in use! Moved it back and the co...
