Re: Power Steering Groaning Ever So Slightly

Thought I'd give an update. Noise is back and it's worse than ever before. It's so bad now that the groans can be heard even during moderate to high speed turns. If I turn the steering wheel 90 to 120 degrees to the left while doing roughly 40Km/H, the car will groan all throughout that turn. Loudly...

Re: New How-To: Install Spark Plugs 850/S70/V70/C70

Do we need anti-seize lubricant? My spark plugs are long overdue and I don't have any anti-seize lubricants. I think I'm near 80k km on them. Have to double check to make sure.

Re: 2000 S70 Brakes and General Questions

Can I use a Nissen evaporator core and Air Products AC compressor if I need to get them replaced? Or are they one of those genuine Volvo parts only kind of product?

Re: 2000 S70 Brakes and General Questions

If a caliper is k hung or tight, you usually feel the drag on the car, and you will smell hot brakes. If you dash a cup of water on the rotor it will sizzle and steam. If you touch the rotor with your fingers they take three weeks to heal. At least I know my calipers are "fine" then since...

Re: 2000 S70 Brakes and General Questions

Can you get the wheels off and show some pictures of your rotors and calipers? If you still have pad thickness and scored rotors it sounds like the rotors got hurt last time. They should be mirror smooth and shiny where the pads touch. Check both sides of the rotor...it's possible for a caliper to ...

Re: 2000 S70 - Question about A/C compressor shim fix

Well, as professionals, if they don't know they can drop the air guide and rotate the compressor, then they don't know beans about Volvo cars. I read on Volvospeed that it can be accessed from the passenger wheel well after I remove the plastic covering? Would that be easier? All I got are some jac...

2000 S70 Brakes and General Questions

Obviously my parking brake doesn't work but what kind of fix am I looking at if the parking brake does not engage properly? On a hill today, I put it in neutral and put on the parking brake. Lo and behold, the car started moving backwards while making a loud screeching sound. I knew the parking brak...

Re: 2000 S70 - Question about A/C compressor shim fix

If you can remove two 10mm bolts and drop the plastic air guide (cover) under the front of the car, the clutch can be accessed as abscate indicated, by rotating it 1/3 at a time to face the side you are working on toward the bottom. It's not nearly the kind of tussle that's going on in your avatar ...

Re: 2000 S70 - Question about A/C compressor shim fix

I got an oil change done today and asked the mechanic to take a look at the fix. Him and a colleague said they can't get access to the AC clutch because it is covered by metal (forgot the proper names) to the left and bottom of the AC compressor. Basically the only way to do it is to drop the compre...

Re: Power Steering Groaining Ever So Slightly

^yep, sounds like this to me too: http://volvospeed.com/volvo_repairs_how_tos/steering_alignment/steering_bearing_lube.html After 3 years, I finally attempted the steering bearing grease repair. No idea if I screwed up or not but during a quick road test around my neighbourhood, everything seemed f...
