Hello, My 1996 850 GLT has a passenger side front strut noise that is getting to be more frequent. The car has about 90 to 100 thousand miles on it. Question, can the large nut on top of the strut be tightened down to cure the problem?

Would an alignment be needed after fixing any of these possible problems? In other words should it be taken to a mechanic or would it be better to take it into an alignment shop?
