Re: 1999 V70XC severe shaking on acceleration
Great information guys, thanks a lot. I assume the coil packs are original, this is my first post 98 volvo so coil packs are new to me. This will be the deal breaker, the gas gauge doesn't work (tried the techron thing), needs a catalytic converter, transfer case leak, large clouds of blue smoke on ...

Re: 1999 V70XC severe shaking on acceleration
That's interesting, did your symptoms come with any fault codes? Mine is clear of codes. The coil pack makes sense like a misfire on a cylinder would cause some imbalance but I would assume that would throw a code.

Re: 1999 V70XC severe shaking on acceleration
Sorry for the time lapse between replies, it's only gets used on the weekend. So I've checked the left axle, it's tight. All of the mounts are tight, nothing suspicious there, suspension all double checked. It was shaking worse than ever last weekend, I noticed that the shake is only under load and ...

Re: 1999 V70XC severe shaking on acceleration
I will check them out. It is definitely a side to side shake, although the steering wheel stays stable. It's hard to explain, as if the road is moving side to side and the car stays with it, therefore it drives straight and steering wheel is still but your coffee still spills. The frequency of the s...

Re: 1999 V70XC severe shaking on acceleration
Ok, finally had time to change out the right front axle on the weekend. Although the inner boot didn't look ripped there was grease all around it. I thought this was it but on road test there was no change. Still the same terrible shaking. Next steps? I'm about to give up on this car actually, too m...

Re: 1999 V70XC severe shaking on acceleration
Oh wow, I did not know that. I probably wasn't careful enough with the axle when I did the bearing. It started right after that. Don't you hate saving money only to have it cost you more
It sounds like a very probable cause, is there a way to be sure before I go buy one?

1999 V70XC severe shaking on acceleration
As per the title, my car shakes or shimmies quite badly when accelerating 50km/h to 80. When cruising it is smooth. It comes and goes, sometimes mild, sometimes severe. It's more of a side to side shimmy rather than a hopping if that makes sense. I have checked all front end components, everything i...

Re: 1999 V70XC Transfer case removal
I found a suggestion on another site when I removed my gear case that used two worm gear clamps (hose clamps) connected together so the gear parts are opposite each other. The gear clamps are installed on the axle up against the collar. Sounds cheesy but it worked, didn't drip a drop for years. I in...

Re: V70 AWD 1998 Problem After Refurbished Driveshaft Instal
I had the same problem and ended up doing what cn90 said. I don't doubt the quality of the rebuild, I got mine from Colorado drive shaft, I suspected the viscous coupling or rear diff but that was beyond where I wanted to go.
