Re: 1997 960 Sedan Power Window issue!

I've had luck with this problem simply by cleaning the internals of the window switch. It's a pretty easy task but go slow and careful because some of the internals are small and like to disappear. Remove the switch from the panel (the door panel does not need to be removed). Carefully dismantle the...

Re: FRAM "orange cans of death"?

So... it appears that there really are no issues with the orange cans. It's all automotive urban myth I suppose. Even "volvofix1's" info really only points to shoddy installation, not any actual failure of the filter.

Thanks all for the info and opinions.

Re: Sway bar links and bushings 1996 960 wagon

I replaced all these on my '98 just a few weeks ago. They links were actually very easy to do. The rubber bushings were even easier. It eliminated all the front end klunking. Got them from FCP Groton.

Air Pump Check Valve

'98 V90 - I'm curious... what specific purpose does the air pump check valve do? This is the silver do-hickey mounted on the intake, fed by the air pump. Can this be a major culprit in the intermittent A/C issues?

Re: FRAM "orange cans of death"?

As I've said my '87 has had Fram filters for years and does not have the knocking you speak of... and this car has over 385,000 miles on without the engine ever being opened up for anything. Are you sure it is a problem? My experience says there is not... even if Volvo says there is. My 245 supports...

Re: FRAM "orange cans of death"?

The bottom line? Does anyone out there have any actual experience with any problems caused directly by a Fram filter. All that info regarding the Mann filters is well, informative, but it is not convincing that they are any better than any other brand. Interestingly, I have a independent Volvo mecha...

Re: Power door electrical problem 960

I assume you are referring to the power "window" operation. You're probably overthinking your troubleshooting. My experience tells me that the internals of the switch are dirty. When that occured on mine I pulled the switch, CAREFULLY dismantled it only to discover the internal contacts co...

FRAM "orange cans of death"?

This question is not specific to any one model. It's more for general knowledge. I've noticed in a few posts Fram oil filters being referred to as "orange cans of death". Why is that? I've been using them for many years in many, many vehicles and have never experienced a problem with a sin...

Don't get me wrong. The V90 is a sweet vehicle but it is high maintenance, especially at 12 years old. If you're a tinkerer you should be okay with it.
