S40 T4 1999 - where to get performance struts and springs

Hello, I'm looking at buying what looks like a tidy '99 S40 T4 manual (220k kms) - I have fond memories of a pristine '97 T4 I had until a muppet drove into the side of me and wrote it off... Anyway, I had fitted a 19mm rear ARB and a set of KW coilovers to the first car so it handled pretty well. I...

Re: 2001 S80 T6 complete turbo replacement guide

Great write up - hope I don't have to do it! :-)

Thanks for referencing the tools/parts - that make life easier too.

Cheers,

Chris

Re: 2000 S80 T6 Replacing rear shocks & shock mounts

The video pretty much covered it. Take care with plastic clips holding boot/trunk side covers in place. With re-installing the struts, I put the shock top on top of the shock (I'd loosely fit the nut as well) and push it all up inside the spring. This saves a bit of fiddling with doing them separate...

2000 S80 T6 Replacing rear shocks & shock mounts

Hello, I can't find any useful information on whether it's possible to replace the rear shock top mounts on an S80 without special spring compression tools. Does anyone have any more info? I've got new rear shocks and bought the shock mounts as well but am wondering if I should have bothered... Cheers

Re: 03 S80 Gear Select Malfunction post trans rebuild

It sounds like a mismatch between the gear selector in the gearbox and the position of the gear selector in the car. This could be a cable issue or the more scary option is an internal selector switch issue. Given you changed the gearshift cable, the old adage "check the last thing you did"...

Re: 2001 S80 Gearbox

Hi, There is a significant difference between the 2003+ transmissions and the earlier ones but you might be looking at internal differences... It could be minor seal differences or it could be the valve body. I thought all Volvo transmissions had the 'tiptronic' mode but this might be another point ...

Re: 2000 S80 DIY 4T65EV-GT rebuild (in car)

Hello,

I'd say no - there's a lot involved just from a dis-assembly point of view and to get it right (my opinion) takes time and patience.

Cheers,

Chris

Re: 2000 Volvos S80 misfire

Hello, A fascinating problem! :-) But what a PIA! Just to clarify, if you leave all spark plugs in and have one coil removed/disconnected, will it start? A long shot, but there are some ground leads in the coil wiring that will lead to a bad misfire if not connected. They're near Coils 2 & 5 and...

The Maxiscan EU702 works for me - it can capture and save live data too if you're keen!
