Re: Bye bye 1999 S80
Agreed that ball joint failures are common with all vehicles. However as my car was on the hoist only 2 days prior at my mechanic's to inspect the steering rack replacement (I _literally_ was watching my mechanic checking the tie rods and checking the ball joint play on both front wheels whilst up i...

Re: Bye bye 1999 S80
If it was earlier in the day, I probably wouldn't be here telling you this story. It was about 8:30pm, so after rush hour, and I managed to steer the beast into the left shoulder, right next to a live lane as you can see by the lane marking and ripple strip. I wasn't about to put my two young girls ...

Bye bye 1999 S80
I had my 1999 S80 T6 for about 5 years. In August I traded it in after a series of unfortunate problems. First was the steering rack leaking like a drunk taking a whizz. Had that replaced by my mechanic with a used rack. Two days later my right ball joint explodes on the highway while I was doing 12...

Re: "el power system service required" Help
I had the exact same message on my car early this year. The message would come up every time I started the car, but it would operate without issue. Then about 3 weeks later I was driving home doing about 50-60 kmh when the car just started to lose power. I was approaching a set of traffic lights and...

Re: 2002 S80 T6 fuel filter
Hi mate, I changed the fuel filter on my 99 S80 last year. I first had to remove the 'tape' off the quick release tabs. It was a little hard to get them off but you will eventually with enough twisting and pulling. Try this: While holding the tabs in, use a set of pliers to provide leverage off the ...

Re: Extra Buttons on Dash
That is the million dollar question, how to integrate. One would hope that it would be as simple as plugging in 3.5mm plug (or RCA to 3.5mm adapter) into a jack like most aftermarket stereo's allow. But that would be hoping for too much. Instead Volvo gives us a head unit that needs extra aftermarke...

HU-801 auxillary input?
Does anyone know if this unit accepts auxillary input? If so, I want to know if it is feasible to connect a 3.5mm stereo mini plug so I can connect an ipod.

Re: Extra Buttons on Dash
I was just thinking the other day that one of those blank buttons could be used for a female 3.5mm stereo mini plug (if the stock stereo supports aux input) so that I could plug my ipod in? Can anyone verify?

Re: Tires rubbing wheel well cover
I think this is just standard with S80's. Mine rub both ways, winter or summer tyres. Turning circle on an S80 is a joke.

Re: '99 S80 rear parking shoe replacement
I forgot to mention that there's a good chance that the pads were holding on by a thread, and only came completely loose after my repeated bashing the old rotor to get it off the axle
