Re: 850 engine fan low speed not working

If your car takes more than 2-3 minutes to warm up, or the needle doesn't stay planted at the halfway mark, that's exactly your problem.
That is not the case at all. I will try the wire test to see if I can get the low speed fan to turn on without the relay.

850 engine fan low speed not working

i've had a problem for a while where my engine fan turns on "alot", even shortly after starting the car. recently i pulled codes and only one thing came back about the low speed fan setting. I dont have the exact code but what I think is happening is that the low speed is not kicking in at...

850 Transmission Leak

I've been experiencing loss of power with my '96 850 Turbo. Replaced the spark plugs, cap and wires. Things were fine for a short period of time, but then the car started performing sluggishly again. Turns out I have a transmission fluid leak. We put the car up and it looks to be coming from two gas...

As I understand it, I can refill right through the dipstick tube using a long funnel.

Thanks everyone for their responses; hopefully this will solve the problem. After that it's on to the heater core to see if there really is a leak.

I checked my transmission fluid level last night and it was very low. Apparently the mechanic didn't get a chance to look at it last week when he had the car. This weekend I'll refill and see where that gets me. So, two questions.. - What fluid should I use to refill it? - Do I need to keep anything...

Also, this when I turn my heat on there is a sweet smell, like syrup. Antifreeze leak? Could this all be due to a failing head gasket?

Had the plus, rotors, wires and cap replaced. I asked the mechanic to check the transmission fluid which he claimed was fine. I don't know the last time it was changed as this is a relatively new car to me (since May). I have not had time to check myself. Car stalled on me today at a stop light after ...

Cylinder 2 Misfire & Acceleration Lag

A few weeks ago I had a cylinder #2 misfire. I cleared the code and my car seemed fine. This past week however I've noticed a performance decrease. There seems to be an acceleration lag; the engine revs before the car moves. This happens at any speed when I step on the gas. Could the misfire be indi...

ABS / Tracs Issues (96 850 Turbo)

I've been dealing with some intermittent ABS (possibly TRACS) issues for a few months now. I sent my ABS computer to Victor in Cali to be repaired. I've also had all of the ABS sensors and wiring inspected. I replaced the ignition switch. Yet, a problem still persists. The ABS light is on most of th...

yeah, i might have to try myself. local volvo dealer just quoted me $400 to replace the part. $160 for the genuine part, $211 for "labor/programming" -- which seems a bit excessive. (for the record i've never take this car to a dealer, but my usual mechanic is away for the month and I need...
