You'll need a ECM/TCM removal tool or work on the pink sliders under the computers by removing the plastic case.

First get the software numbers off the TCM before it turns into a 100% failure :-)

If you can get the fault to disappear long enough to investigate the 2 software part numbers on the TCM in Network, you can then swap in another TCM and either have it reprogrammed by Yagger OR it may well match if from the same model year and engine type. Actually Henry can't clone Denso ECMs on P80s. The best he suggested when I came upon this issue is to swap (by means of desolder) the Eprom from one ECM to another allowing key codes to transfer.

Not the key.

Check/replace starter relay. Get a 2nd person to tell you if the starter relay clicks with fuse cover off. If it clicks and doesn't start replace it, if no start again go further along the route to the starter solenoid. A test light to check for voltage/load is indispensable.

My guess is an overheat causing excess crankcase pressure. Cranking while overheated is harder for the starter due to tighter tolerances between pistons and the bore causing quicker current draw and a flat battery. Check coolant system for pressure retension after warmup. Look for leaks.

If AC freon pressure is tolerable to the CCM to turn on the compressor then you're good to go. If freon content goes below threshold it won't fire up the compressor. Best is to put a test lamp on the A/C connector to see if your clutch shim is working properly and that the compressor is firing when ...

There are 2 cam RPM sensors on a 2006 XC70. They are housed in round black plastic housings made by Denso. The intake one is clearly visible. Each has a connector. The rear one on the exhaust cam isn't visible until the top mount is removed.

You won't like the amount of curve on the lower trans cooling line...if you introduce a straight piece such as a filter you will end up with some nasty kinks. Tire diameter of a 225/50/17 is 647mm and is approximately 0.62% larger

Both sizes are in the 2006 owner's manual so should be OK for the 2004 if brake size is not an issue

These are dangerous tires to drive on with a limit of 50mph and generally they are used to get you home only. Handling and performance are not their purpose. First practise without any diagnostuc equipment is to connect a test lamp to the terminal on the compressor. It's already been determined in a previous post that the engine number posted here matches the engine supplied with the car: the numbers from the block match that ID plate exactly.

The head may have been swapped and the block stayed behind, hence the factory engine number.

At that many miles you will want to know what brand of water pump the previous owner fitted. The wrong/bad water pump will kill an engine in no time.

If it's not an Aisin it's not on.

This may work long term. I used a Dremel with a cutting wheel and scored the casing quite deeply on the critcal areas. Then used JB Weld to glue. The theory is greater penetration and surface area. The connectors for both O2 sensors are usually close to the firewall on a bracket held at the rear of the transmission amongst the jungle of ABS lines. I don't think I've ever seen so many modules off the Network yet so few fault codes.

This IS an odd one. Canbus is the biggest suspect here. It wouldn't hurt to use a test lamp of at least 20W (don't use a multimeter as this doesn't draw enough current) to check for voltage at fuses.

Vida/Dice is specific to Volvo. The others suit a range of cars.

Just to be clear have you reset the SRS module with a scanner and had the fault return? Without a reset/clear the issue will never resolve.

Re: ECM-P048000 after fan controller replacement V70 T6

Jimmy PM-ed info that may help. Apparently corrosion on the strip fuse 11A/44 can cause this and give false readings to the ECM. I need to contact the repairer and see if the info helped. Thanks again jimmy!
