Re: Decision of 2019, cleanest s70 in the U.S?

You need to be realistic with the prices, you are not even in the ballpark. Someone could buy a much newer Volvo in much better shape for what you think you are going to get. If you keep the prices the way they are you are going to have no hits at all. I sold my S70 in EXCELLENT condition (i.e. need...

headlight wiper motor repair

I had to switch out the headlight wiper motor on my 2000 S70. After reading and lots of research all I could find was that you had to take most of the front bumper covers, bumper etc. etc. off to get at the motor on one side. I thought this is utterly ridiculous just to change a motor for the wiper....

Re: AW55-50SN woes-easy to repair?

Unfortunately count your losses and run. It is next to impossible to find a good used one and this is a well known flaw from the factory on these AW55s. The repair will cost more than the car is worth. I had the same car and it was sold for parts.

Re: XC 70 front coil spring failure

No that really shouldn't have snapped, did you hit a huge pothole or road hazard when it was last driven? You will get absolutely no where with Volvo as the car is 11 years old and unless there is a recall they will do nothing( Google Volvo 06xc recalls and check). About all you can do is get a good...

Re: Sticky Key and Hissing Sounds?

Volvos are known for the sticky key problem. Try putting some (I believe it's lithium grease) on your key and work the key. Also, if you mess around a bit you'll find that the position of the steering wheel makes a difference with getting the key out as they get high mileage, all normal for a Volvo....

Re: Advice on purchasing a 2006 S60?

First thing you should do is ask the dealer to provide you with a Carfax. If they refuse, run don't walk away. That does seem like about 2k too much for that car. Have the car checked out by an independent garage if you plan on proceeding knowing you are dishing out 2k too much that you will never r...

knock sensor removal

Having read the posts on this topic everyone says you have to remove the manifold in order to get to the knock sensor on the s70 series. I want to let everyone know with a little patience you do not need to remove the manifold. I simply took the throttle body off, removed the fan from the radiator a...

Re: Stall, crank + no-start, no CEL

The throttle bodies on these are very poorly built. The first thing I would do is go get a can of good carb cleaner and clean the throttle body. While you're there take a look with a mirror to see the color of the label, white original, yellow newer. These were built so badly Volvo extended the warr...
