760 GLE V6 head gasket?
The following just happened to this otherwise-nice 1985 121k car. My wife and oldest son said that it had "gotten hot" (uh-oh), and they had added antifreeze but it had used it up shortly, complete with steaming, etc. It's cold here in CT so I have limited ability to work on the car, but a...

A/C Clutch 85 760 GLE
This morning I was greeted by a loud screaming as I started to drive away. It stopped when I took off the belt driving the A/C. The pulley freewheels when the engine is off, and is locked up tight when the A/C is turned on, so the clutch is bad. Can I replace just the clutch, is it much of a job? Is...

V6 cams wearing out
I've heard that my '85 V6 has, among its other problems, the tendency to wear out the camshafts. What would be the symptoms of this happening?
The car has 121,000 miles. Thx.

replacing exhaust header gasket on '85 V6
I have an '85 760GLE, 121k. It runs fine, except that I have an exhaust manifold leak, small but incrementally getting bigger. The shop where I take it is a Volvo specialist (they have a lot of them in there), but I can tell that they don't enjoy working on the V6. What they've told me is that the p...

760GLE exhaust gasket leaking
Pretty standard leak...started small about 6 months ago, and has progressed to something louder, but still minor. But it's starting to get cold in CT and I suspect that the cold temps of winter will make it louder yet. My (independent) but Volvo-specialized mechanic warned me today that the V6 clear...

I left something in the wagon
Hi: When I was removing the plastic piece from between the front seats of the wagon, I took off the latch receptacle from the console cover and put it on top of the passenger seat. It's small, about 1" square. If it's there, could you grab it and I'll arrange to pick it up or something? thx Hal...

Nice grey 7 series wagon leather interior in junkyard in CT
I was prowling in a junkyard in Norwalk CT (LeBlanc's), and they have a 1990 740 wagon with a surprisingly good leather interior, including the drivers seat. No rips, a nice car before its terminal collision. I bet the seats can be had for cheap, how many people are looking for them anymore? I got t...

85 760 water leak in driver's footwell
With enough rain, the driver's footwell carpet gets very wet. The windshield was replaced a couple of years ago. After a search here, I did read one message that talked about a vent in the side panel not being sealed, and that the water was leaking from there. But this message talked about that vent...
