Re: My Favorite Car, R.I.P.

I am glad you are OK. Even Volvos can be replaced. Drive Safely. Yes, if I am going to hit or be hit, I want it to be in a Volvo. I have Spina Bifida, my neurosurgeon and physical medicine and rehabilitation doctor also drive Volvos and feel more comfortable with me driving Volvos.

Re: Way off topic but an interesting day for me.

Yes, indeed Lee. Those Gentners going off in the night meant many a drive. These days, I run Burks. Only one time did I ever have to delve into an old Sparta rig. They were decent if quirky on tuning and the power control ladders. Mainly run Continentals, Collins, BE and older Harris rigs and a Gate...

Re: Welcome, "OEM Only!" MVS forum reader! A quick note...

If iPd sells it and it is aftermarket, they stand behind it and it works well. Some iPd parts can even be superior to original. As a rule, their uprated 240 radiators are especially fine. Their advice over the phone is superb.

Re: Repair shop in Knoxville TN area?

For Pre 1999 Volvos (rear wheel drive especially and early FWD), Swedish Car Parts & Service on 311 East Anderson Ave in Knoxville is superb. Chris Lavier is owner, phone # is 865-522-0717. Trans-Tech in Oak Ridge, TN services all Volvo, Saab, Mercedes-Benz, BMW, and more at 865-482-6880.

Re: Jiffy Lube

I don't trust Jiffy Lube with any station vehicle I care for, especially when it has hand controls. If I can't do it myself, there's some independent mechanics I trust and the dealer. Worth it. Especially when rentals with hand controls are $150 a day and wheelchair vans are the only usual option. I...

Re: Upgrades for a 98 Radio?

For those who need extra functionality, I recommend a radio replacement for them. Easier and usually nicer. My 1997 960 Sedan is getting ready for exactly that option. I'll keep you folks posted on it. Stock speakers are nice, only the top octave needs any assistance (supertweeters planned with the ...

Re: What 240 would you have? The start of a project

I must drive only automatics due to spina bifida and using hand controls. I prefer wagons due to extra room for wheelchairs and other gear. Power steering/brakes/knob on the wheel required as a condition on my driving licence. If you can drive a stick, you could choose one. I have not heard anything...

Re: What 240 would you have? The start of a project

For me, it would be a late generation 240 Wagon. Mine would have to be automatic, have power steering and power brakes. I would want a rust-free original car which was well kept and in running order. Hand controls and a steering knob would have to be fitted. I need me a classic Brick Wagon.

Re: Wired's review of the 780's 25th anniversary

Here in McMinn County, I know of both cars extant. The 262 C is not running and is sitting at my mechanic. Body is in minty shape. The 780 is owned by another physically challenged driver here in town. We have a pretty decent number of Bricks in town. Bertone's styling is interesting.

Nice car you have. I have wanted one but have had no luck finding a suitable example. I have the sedan. And love it, just need more room for my wheelchair and gear.
