2003 Xc90 6T w/69000 miles ...Run away or Buy?

Guys:

I have an opportunity to buy a 2003 XC90 6T with 69,000 miles on it for $6,000.00 I don't have the service history. Drives fine. What problems could I be getting myself into? Any advice? Run away? Thanks for your help. I know very little of this model.

Re: 99 XC AWD Overheating??

No loss of coolant. I am replacing the thermostat tonight. Next couple days are going to be 90+ degrees. I'll see if that works. I have a ODBII that shows the cars temp at idle after a short drive around the block and 10 mins of idle to be 199 degrees. I don't know if that is normal or not. My only ...

Re: 99 XC AWD Overheating??

The engine temp gauge starts to go up after the outside gauge reads 100+ degrees.

Re: 99 XC AWD Overheating??

Yes the temp gauge goes up. I turn off the AC and it goes down. Is it possible its registering excess engine heat? Once the outside temp shows 100 degrees (on a 75 degree day) it starts to overheat.

99 XC AWD Overheating??

Perplexing problem with my 1999 V70 XC/AWD. Last summer intermitently the outside tempeture gauge would read higher than actual outside temp. The temp would seem to increase during heavy traffic. At about 95-100 degrees the AC would shut-off and then the actual temp gauge would start to rise. I flus...

Re: 99 V70 XC/AWD Will not start - fuel pump problem?

Used a dremel and it was perfect! Now the hard part, removing the fuel lines from the fuel pump. Whoever stated it was a bear is correct! I've been at it all day and no luck. What I am contemplating is cuttting the ends off with a well oiled pipe cutter and using 3/8ths rubber fuel lines. One line i...

Re: 99 V70 XC/AWD Will not start - fuel pump problem?

Learned something new today! Neighbor stated that if it is a fuel pump problem if you bank on the gas tank a few time prior to trying to start it the car will start. He was right it started and of course quickly died. Could definately here the whine of the pump which sounded like it was dying. What ...

Re: New to Forum. Need some asistance w/AWD on 98 XC, please

I had an issue with the sleeve that connects the transmission to the transfer case. Since the sleeve is made of a different metal it will stip over time. Do to the stipping it chewed away at the gear spindle of the transfer case. Make a long story short I disconnected the drive shaft. Pretty simple ...

Re: 99 V70 XC/AWD Will not start - fuel pump problem?

I should have noted that when leaving work the car would seem a little doggy when driving the first mile but then would be fine.
