Re: warm AC. pay for diagnostics or just replace compressor

The engine control module runs the compressor variable displacement solenoid. The climate control module monitors the evaporator temp sensor and requests compressor displacement level which is used to determine the duty cycle of the VD solenoid. Expansion valves are not giving trouble on these unles...

Re: 2021 Volvo

If you looked into the powertrain offerings worldwide you will see the engines that are the equivalent of what we get in NA only get auto trans. They offer some much lower output engines in other markets where taxation or emissions rules make the higher performance engines a lot more expensive. The ...

Re: Miles to empty- how does it work?

DTE number is based on a rolling consumption of the last short distance traveled. It is NOT based on the avg MPG on display and it is not resettable other than for the few hundred yards it will take for a new rolling MPG to be determined again. If you drive 47 mph on flat ground at 34.3 avg MPG and ...

Re: 14 psi for fuel pressure at injectors?

You replaced the whole fuel pump assembly with new or a used? The other thing that comes to mind is checking the voltage by measuring between the ground and power supply wires back at the tank connector.

Re: 940 AW70/71 Transmission overhaul.

Turn it upside down and take the valve body off. As I recall, there is only one ball, if that, when valve body is removed. If you take valve body apart there are several. It is an easy transmission to repair but you will need to draw at least one piston down with a press of some sort. Once the valve...

Re: Emissions issue involving MAF

You need to look carefully at all turbo to intercooler, intercooler to throttle, and the intercooler itself for leaks. Also anything connected to intake that could leak. You might be able to find the leak by having someone hold brake pedal HARD while it is in gear and they take throttle barely open....

Re: 98 XC: removing a bent/broken connecting rod Topic is solved

I know of very few engines that have the crankcase size to remove piston from the bottom. The ones that allowed it were old engines with 6 cylinders and 4 main bearings or 4 cylinder with 3 mains. Old tractor engines and some welders, etc. even those required the crankshaft be removed first. Look at...

Re: Safe to disconnect VVT while running the engine?

I have not seen a Volvo CVVT that didn't set a code for cam control before it caused it to run or idle poorly. If the ETM goes wonky then ECM will randomly cancel injection on cylinders to keep idle speed down. No high idle and uncontrolled acceleration allegations that way. The randon cylinder canc...

Re: V60 vs V70

There were P3 V70's 2008 through 2010, FWD 3.2 only in North America. P3 XC70 were 3.2 and T6 through 2016. The final two years had the Drive-E 4 cylinders, 2.5T 5 cylinder instead of the 3.2 6cylinder, and 3.0 Turbo through 2015. I don't believe the 3.0T 6 cylinder was available in 2016. There were...
