here is an update. I let my kids use the car for a quick trip to NY. WHen it cam home it had 2 codes. P0027 and P0101(mass of volume air flow.....) I checked the air filter, it was quite dirty and was replaced, swapped the gas cap with one from another car (same model), and no codes for 2 weeks........

SO, after hooking up a code reader I now know that the code I get is P0027 - Exhaust Valve Control solenoid Circuit Range/Performance Bank 1. It happens when I fill up with gas, comes on for a while and then goes off in a few days. I was thinking it had something to do with the gas cap, but the code...
