I just removed my switch. If I'm not mistaken, if you remove that bottom plate, get rid of the conical spring, and fiddle with the wheel lock so that it drops down, it will not break again. The 97 is gone, the 96 (FE Damaged) is still available. This car was well maintained by Peter's Auto Works in PDX. Some very good records of the major service interval work like T-Belt, etc. If you need a solid drive train and can do pulls, this is a good car to harvest the engine and tranny. Scrapp...
