I just bought the small clock for my 240 on e-bay. Does the wire plug into the 3 lugs at the top of the tach? I just DO NOT want to plug it into the wrong spot and fry something.
Simple -- for somebody who knows.

Re: Overdrive
I think I would do exactly as you did except for one thing: I want to (daresay NEED to) pull my sailboat behind the brick and all I've read says to lock out the OD while pulling. I don't suppose the car would sense the extra strain and simply not shift up anyway would it? The boat weighs about 400 l...

Re: 240 cruise control
Courage is being gained. Thank you. I'm going to give it a try - as soon as it gets a little warmer so I don't freeze while crawling around the car. Thanks.

Re: 240 cruise control
Hey Jimmy, Thanks for the information. I have the whole kit in the box here at the computer with me. It does have that bracket you described. I'll figure out the throttle cable attachment cover (on the car?) when I get out to the car. I found the hairpin clip. WILL BE CAREFUL with that one. I have t...

240 cruise control
I bought a used cruise control for the '86 240 DL through one of the suppliers listed on the forum. It does have installation instructions with it but I'd be more comfortable with a bit more detail and explanation. I haven't found good step-by-step instructions and am wondering if anyone knows of so...

rewiring cigarette lighter
Is there an easy way to change the wiring on the cigarette lighter on my 240 so that it stays "hot" even when the ignition is switched off?

Re: Overdrive
When you went to the bypass was it because the relay wasn't working or were there other issues? Ya just gotta love lying down under a car and bear hugging the tranny!
Thanks for the insight.

Re: 240 won't fire after removing instrument pod
Yes, this is the tach that replaces the clock. I think the car wasn't starting because I didn't have the full moon and half moon wires plugged into the back of the instrument pod. Anyway it starts and runs fine now. Now my wife tells me she'd like a clock so I'm looking for one of those small ones. ...

Re: 240 won't fire after removing instrument pod
Thanks. I have the wire plugged in to the bottom (vertical) terminal on the tach down at the 6:00 o'clock position. The car wants to start, almost makes it. I've let it sit for a couple of hours just in case. No criuse control, which should simplify things. Should I move the wire to one of the other...
