Check and test battery,star motor,and alternator for faults.

Inspect the gas cap seal for cracks. Mine had the same problem and a new gasket fix it.

Running out of fuel is the the quietest way to burn out an electric fuel pump.

Could be a faulty fuel pump.Or it may be a clog filter.

3 years is about the end of the average store battery. There are variables that will sway one way or other, such as alarm, A.C. blower, etc, CCA.

The whistling sound may be a loose vacuum hose or possible a faulty manifold gasket.
You might have a garage person spray around the throttle body and listen for surging.
