V70R - New engine with existing tuned ECU
Hi, I'm the proud owner of a 2004 V70R with the spaceball M66. Its got a new B5254T motor after the last one split a cylinder sleeve when with the previous owner. It's rumoured the existing ECU is tuned to stage 2 and 20 psi but the new engine is stock. The car pulls like a beast which is very cool,...

Re: V70R M66 - New ride - VADIS/ODB2 questions
Fair observation and question @velo. While I certainly don't believe I represent the ROW and it's car maintenance concerns, it is fair to suggest that Volvo owners are marginally more anally retentive than the owners of many other mass produced marques here in Oz. I just might represent the upper en...

Re: Starting the engine at -25C
Friend reports his 05 starts at -54C routinely. That may be an exaggeration, especially the routinely part. It's not a normal temperature even for the northern siberian cities. Or perhaps he meant the windchill factor. This is the forecast of one of the coldest places in Siberia and also among the ...

V70R M66 - New ride - VADIS/ODB2 questions
Hi, I'm a longtime lurker/searcher on this board - which has helped me quietly keep my M59 854R in great shape. Recently I was fortunate enough to get my hands on a 2004 V70R in Flash Green with the Atacama interior in a 6MT. It's in good condition, with about 130K kms on the engine, drive train and...

Re: Another overboost and fuel cut post
Thanks gents.
If it is the vacuum lines - and I fix them, am I being an idiot to hope that the awesome boost and assosicated whistle will remain (without bending all my rods)?

Another overboost and fuel cut post
Hi, 850R manual with 90K miles on it - and I've just got back from a weekend in the mountains. About a week ago I turned the wastegate actuator 4 half turns tighter (two full turns) and took it for a drive. Awesome. But just recently its developed some symptoms: 1 - Extremely fast - heavy torque ste...

Re: Modifying the Wastegate actuator rod...
I do this on almost all my Volvo turbos the 4.4 Motronics (94-98) can handle up to 3+ turns but you don't want to do that. You will actually get too much boost almost off the lnie andin bad weather can be a bit scary. I would say your 2 turns is ENOUGH The ME-7 cars usually take less, up to one tur...

Re: What's this sound? 97 850R (Video)
Thanks RSPI.
I've been googling solid looking for some kind of similar problem that may give me a parts list to consider, without much luck.
Both the R and my wife's 850 SE are due for a service, so I guess the shop will have the final say.
Thanks again.

Re: What's this sound? 97 850R (Video)
I've just got back from checking to find it does both. The sound increases in frequency and pitch up to about 2000 revs and then quickly disappears.
It doesn't seem to get louder as the engine gets louder.
Could it be a loose shield or covering or something similar?

Re: Volvo 850 ABS warning light advice
Hi, It may be worth reading this: https://www.matthewsvolvosite.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=12651 Apparently the ABS modules all go eventually and if you're up for it you can fix it yourself. Reading that post and replies may save you from some of the schoolboy errors I made when I did it. Arch
