Re: Tire choices for the C30?
Hey there, I do not own a C30, but have replaced tires on our 2008 C70 and 2004 V70R. After an unhealthy amount of research I put Pirelli A/S Cinturato p7 plus 2 on the V70R 14 months ago, and Nitto Motivo on the C70 3 weeks ago. We don't drive much, 5-7k/yr V70R and <1k/yr C70. My priorities (alway...

Re: v70 manual - reverse R is gone after accidentally engaging instead of 4th?
Or any tips are welcome (i'll search the forums too). I have not worked on this transmission, but many universals apply, such as: -Rear main seal (Cheap insurance) -Release bearing and clutch slave cylinder (Replace or inspect and grease as Volvo recommends) -Pilot bearing -Transmission fluid -CV d...

Re: Driveshaft bolts - XC90 cure or red loctite?!
I am wondering if I could use the rubber cone from them and put onto the correct length bolts? I have used #2 rubber stoppers drilled out and shortened in length to appropriately 3/4"/20mm on the tapered end. At full length, I've found they split. https://www.amazon.com/Neoprene-Stopper-ASTM-H...

Re: Front suspension noise when turning with car stationary
Sorry, I do not have a solution, just a similar situation that may offer insight. I have a similar sound (same side too), but not as metallic- more of a rubber on metal squeal. It occured after I replaced the spring seats, strut mount bearings and sway bar links. A few years prior, I refreshed the f...

What's your plan of attack on flushing the oil cooler? I know you mentioned brake cleaner through the oil side- sounds good to me.
Any surprises on the coolant side?

Re: 2001 V70XC - Chasing fluid at the bottom of the turbo
Great information here! Thanks for taking the time to add such detailed procedures, along with p/n's, torque specs and photos. I'll be sure to reference this in the future. I use Simple Green still, along with products like 409, Greased Lightening, etc. but I started using kerosene where I could soa...

Re: Front coil spring insulator?
I was wondering the exact same thing for my 2004 V70R. I don't suppose there is any harm in adding these insulators? When I purchase new shocks and springs, I would think adding these rubber insulators would help mitigate rust forming on the springs and noise, if any. I see FCP has these https://www...

Re: Engine Vibration
Here is a quick way to narrow things down:
Open the hood and observe how the engine moves around when the transmission is placed from neutral to drive and neutral to reverse, with the brakes on and engine running
Not a bad idea to replace all at once, since others are likely worn.

Re: A Tale of Two R's!
2004 4C is the only one huh? Good to know. BTW, my suspension is silent. Skittish but silent. Try it Fuse #23 in the left dash fuse box Takes a second You don't like it, put it back, doesn't hurt anything Have you had the 4C re-calibrated only, no new software? You need to do that every year or two...

Re: 88 240 not charging, checked all i can think of
I had the same issue, but not sure if my 1990 740 problem will apply to you. I had a short on the instrument panel and that is where the 12V for the field coil comes from. The instrument panel is known for bad solder joints.
Again, may not relate at all, but I thought I'd share.
