The cap on the expansion tank should release pressure around 15psi. If other parts the system are breaking they are\were weak or the cap is not doing its job. Replace the expansion tank cap and the bulging pipe. Distilled water is a good idea also. where I can buy a cap of 15 psi? other questions b...

the thermostat is new is placed after the cylinder head repair going to change the hose.Colonialgirl wrote:Wonder if he changed the thermostat while doing the head gasket change and/or IF he's got one of the correct heat range in it. When the cap is on the coolant reservoir and the engine is running does the pressure force fluid out of the cap on the reservoir???? I think the pressure that has the system is mainly gas but could also have the coolant pressure because when I turn off the car and open the gas cap which is practica...

the pressure is so high that I already broke the radiator and replace new one, what I do is let the pressure release tank cap expansion. The hose coming from the engine to the radiator is inflated too much like wanting to explode. The vehicle does not combine the oil and coolant as before. the vehicle does not consume oil and woking are normal temp. My car a Volvo S40 turbo 1.9cc year 2002. Repair previously the cylinder head 6 month aprox. My car cooling system builds more pressure than usual, I have to keep the cap is not completely closed because too much pressure builds up in the hoses. My cap is green color and new. Now the car runs great ...
