Re: 2003 V70 AC Compressor seized

My sons 01 V70 compressor seized out of the blue.He came for a visit(in December) and got ready to leave and the car would start, run for a few seconds and shut down like the motor was locking up.I disconnected the ac power feed wire and everything went back to normal.I will replace the compressor wi...

S-60 na 5speed engine removal

I'm considering buying a 05 S60 with a 5 speed standard transmission and a rod knock. My question is in regard to removing the engine from the top while leaving the transmission in the car.Is it possible to shift the tranny over enough to gain clearance by un bolting the mounts?I know the consensus i...

Re: gear oil specs.

If this transmission has "yellow metal"(brass/copper/bronze)it requires sulfur free, non corrosive gear oil.The only brand I could find was CRC gl-4 at my local NAPA retailer.I kept hearing gl-5 supersedes gl-4 but I still don't believe that's true.

Re: P1800ES Fuel Starvation

I would start by dropping the tank and checking it for sludge and clean/replace the tank strainer.

Re: 2011 s-60 balder wheels on 2001 v-70

After a bit of research I have discovered that the 2011 balder wheels have a bore of 63.4mm and that my 2001 v70 requires a bore of 65.1mm.This can be remidied by increasing the hub bore slightly. My next question would be how deep into the existing bore to increase this diameter into the balders.I w...

2011 s-60 balder wheels on 2001 v-70

I have found a "deal" on a set of new car takeoff Balder wheels(17x7) and tires(215/50x17) from a 2011 s-60.Does anyone know if I will have any issues putting these on my 01 v-70 which presently has 16x6.5 and 205/55 tire? The bolt pattern appears to be the same but I'm not sure about the h...

01 v70 ac clutch gap on car adjust(yes it can be done)

After putting it off for the past three months I finally caught a break from the heat wave in mid Tennessee last night. My 01 v70 had the all too common excessive clutch gap and after looking at all the patch cures I decided to do it right.I jacked the front of the car until I could fit jackstands on...

obd code p0442 and gas cap

After regularly getting this emission code(every 2 or 3 days) and assuming that I had a split J hose I decided to check the cap one more time. While the cap appeared to be in good shape I noticed the filler tube had several nicks from being banged by the pump nozzle and actually felt quite rough.I sa...
