Re: Need advice for starting a car sitting for 3 years 96 850 R

Just turn it over carefully with a 30mm wrench and feel if there is any resistance, if it turn over twice…..

Check the oil for water.

Get a good battery

Fire it up, let it get hot.

That's a good idea, thanks for the advice. I'm assuming it would be best to remove the plugs, but I'm not ...

That's a good idea too, thank you.

Need advice for starting a car sitting for 3 years 96 850 R

I haven't started my 1996 850 R in 3 years. I took it off the road during Covid because I was out of state and was unable to have an inspection. I'm prepping to sell it but I don't want to cause any unnecessary damage. It's been my daily driver up until that point, but it's been sitting outside in ...

Re: OBD II - Reading & Clearing Codes with iPhone (1996 850R)

Thank you both for your suggestions. I like the idea of using my PC with an Android emulator. I just wanted to run by you the products I am thinking of using, in case you have knowledge of it working or not working.

I'm looking at BlueStacks as the Android emulator to run on my Windows 10 laptop ...

OBD II - Reading & Clearing Codes with iPhone (1996 850R)

Can anyone recommend an OBD II app + hardware to read and clear codes on a 1996 850? There's a lot of talk on here about the xiaotec "850 OBD-II" Android app, but I have an iPhone. Any help is appreciated.

Re: 850 Sunroof Position Adjustment

I posted my question question quite a while ago, and finally fixed it about two years ago.

Here's how I did it: (I am going by memory, no photos)
It's is very simple, adjust only 4 screws... from the inside of the car...
Locate and remove the plastic rail covers Decorative) on both sides
This ...

Re: How to replace front seat belt

Can Someone tell me if it is normal for the seat belt to NOT unwind from the reel?
I bought a used seat belt assembly (drivers side) on eBay, just received it and did not try to install it yet. I am unable to unwind the belt, so before I do the work, I wanted to know if that is normal while the part ...

Re: Volvo 850 Ignition Switch Replacement

Is it possible that you removed the "cover" from the wire harness instead of removing the harness? It is not completely clear from the photo, but I think that is what you did. Try rocking the harness off - DO NOT PULL BY THE WIRES!
