Sorry to hear that if u take the angle gear/ bevel gear case and split it u may be able to bolt the half case so it holds the sleeve in place and not use the clamps

I myself picked up my third a 97 850 wagon green in color for 500.00 and it already on its way. I just put on ons exhaust,r mani,16t and Em gauges and a few other goodies previous owner didn't know a thing about volvos so I had to do a lot of wiring and stuff but worth it gotta love the wagons

Most likely u probably installed the bracket the wrong way or the mount that secures the cables to the top of the tranny is bad but I installed brand new cables and the shift kit by snabb and haven't had any problems with the shift the big problem was trying to run the new cables back to the tranny ...
