Went into the S40 forum and noticed that the threads in "Topics" do not list the author, but instead show the last poster. Yes you can see the author if you open up the thread. Does that make sense? Was working intermittently and erratically, then stopped working completely. Thanks. Mine has been erratic for the past 5 years (at least!). I changed the resistor 2-3 years ago and it didn't make any difference. I generally don't use the fan anyway. Rarely use A/C or need any boost (blower fan) in...

It's kind of tough to imagine exactly the part you are referring to, but maybe it's a spring perch?

I just don't remember a rubber lower mount for the rear springs on the struts on my '01.

Edit: Got to thinking that this may have been another change associated with going from "Phase I" (1996-2000) to "Phase II" (2001-2004)
