1998 S70 T5M, one owner, ipd goodies - SoCal
I am selling my 1998 Volvo S70 T5M which is virtually a one-owner car (I purchased it from the original owner 3 months ago, i.e. 3 tanks of gas ago). This is a high mileage example (248k miles!) that has been diligently serviced and maintained throughout it's entire life by a Hughes (Aircraft) engin...

Re: 2006+ XC90 Which one
Oh, and if you want to tow, you definitely want the V8. Not sure if there was an official factory tow-package. It would be dealer installed or aftermarket. In North America I think they all already have a self-leveling rear suspension, so you're good to go in that regard. You can install a hitch, wi...

Re: 2006+ XC90 Which one
1. For 2006+, there are no engines to avoid. In North America, you either have the 3.2 I-6 or the 4.4 V8. Both are very reputable (but avoid 2005 V8's). Look for service records and regular oil changes, of course. 2. No, these engines use timing chains, not belts. 3. Most around here will recommend ...

Re: 98 V70 XC Electronic Climate Control issue
Bumping this thread to see if there has been any resolution. I seem to be having the exact same issue. Only cold air out of the floor vents, with code ECC-236. Tried swapping the unit, but didn't fix the issue. FYI mine is also a 1998 S70. Fan speed manual control works correctly, and A/C can be tur...

Re: Control Arm - lower left and right
Replacing the control arms may be needed (I had to do mine at 125k), but make sure you have your front wheels rebalanced first to make sure that's not the issue.

Re: 01 S60 with gas smell
Did you ever get a letter about it? I think I got the letter within the last 2-3 years, so I assume it would still be covered.

Re: 01 S60 with gas smell
I thought at least some '01 S60 had a fuel pump recall (or just a service bulletin?). Seems like some plastic part in the fuel pump commonly cracks. When my '01 S60 T5 developed the same fuel smell (in the same place), the dealer replaced the fuel pump for free under this program.

Re: windshield pillars peeling
Maybe install some of the earlier hard plastic A pillar covers instead--the non cloth-covered ones from 01-04 cars. Not as luxurious, but you avoid the peeling issue. I believe the color is the same.

Re: windshield pillars peeling
My coworker has an 07 S60 and I've noticed it having this problem. Probably because it gets parked in the hot California sun.
