98' is a great year to buy, if not the best imho. No ETM failure headaches, no canbus nonsense. Slickdizzy is spot on and his opinion reflects my experience with these. You may want to up the number of expected repairs though. I just went through a 99' S70 and brought it up to speed, but it cost me ...

04' Volvo V70, base, auto, ash gold/ tan, 236k, $2200

Hello everyone, We bought this car in 02/2017 mainly for our high school age girls to drive, it had about 192k on it at the time. We are the third owner, but the second owner had it since 2005 and kept it very clean. He also kept ALL of the maintenance and repair records. It was always garaged until...

Carrying a breaker bar has been mentioned, but length makes all the difference here. They are not that easy to find, but each of my cars has a 30" bar. I am quite shocked that this happened. As you probably know, I was the one who installed these. The overheating problem may have been a blessing in disguise. I don't want to imagine what could have happened to Mark's daughter if this happened while she was on the road.

I had heard about the PVC pipe trick, but I was too lazy to drag my butt to Home Depot only to find out they don't have any scrap laying around. I certainly didn't want to pay for it :o Plus, the angle gear collar has a nice weight to it, which helps reducing bounce back on the hammer blows  M...

What a bummer that this happened to you. But as Abscate said, you are ok and that's the main thing. Do you have a photo of the quarter panel without that Hunday biting it's teeth into it? From staring at the photos I am thinking that the frame was possibly not compromised. The rear door gaps look fi...

You have an R though. I imagine the AWD axle is not the same as the FWD axle.
My axle is supposed to arrive on Thursday. If it does it will be installed early next week. Then I can take measurements.

Re: S70 T5 -- softer ride? tires?

Your car came with 16" wheels and 205/55/16 tires from the factory. In general, if you increase the size of the side wall, you get a more comfortable ride. You can achieve this by going to 15" wheels. The tire size I would recommend for that size is 195/65/15. This change will make a significant dif...

Axles for manual P2's are very hard to find, I am going through the same process right now. Sounds like my Indie found a source and he ordered it (passenger side as well). We shall see if it fits when it gets here.
A lot of vendors have auto axles listed as manual axles, which is really bad.

Also still not addressed is an outer passenger side CV joint boot that cracked right at the shaft. Not loosing any grease so how long can I go? We shall see.

Radiators are super easy on these cars. Do yourself a favor and slide out the fan/ shroud assembly as a whole. This has worked well for me.

I use a large screwdriver to spread the clips apart, then you can slide them off.

I just harvested beige seats from a V70, and having bought seat bottoms, might have extra bottoms. Lets stay in touch in case we can share bottoms. That sounds too personal. I have a whole new cache of 99 Base NA parts of course, beige interior and Stone Black 019 exterior Wow, I am bottoming out r...

Re: New to me 99' S70, base, 5-speed, 209k

Slow progress is being made on this car. I finally installed a rebuilt ABS module (Thanks Matty Moo) which took care of the annoying warning lights. Plus it's nice to have a functioning ABS system again. Yesterday I went to NJ to harvest a complete interior from a 2000 S70, including headliner, stee...

99' S70, seat skin question

Hello All,

I am looking to freshen up the seats in my S70 and was wondering if the seat skins from a passenger seat would fit on a driver seat.
Do you guys know?

Also, are 99' and 00' seats the same?

Thanks, Dirk

The 850 got a little shoe polish treatment yesterday. The trim was badly faded and I always wanted to try this out.

We shall see how long this lasts. But it's super easy to apply and takes only minutes to do the bumpers.

Not compatible.

Your 850 has the window switches in the console. The later S/V 70 cars have them in the driver door.
Plus, the overall shape and color scheme is different.

I like the plasti dipped rails, I think that came out great. To address your "rust" spot I would take a dremel and remove as much rust as you can without cutting a whole. Nice, I like the old 144 the best.

The rims on the 850 look like Centaurus ones. They are 16x7 and I think they came on C70's originally. You can recognize them by the little spikes sticking out between the spokes.
