Re: 2005 XC 90 V8 won't start

Problem solved. After carefully bridging the two poles on the starter solenoid, the vehicle would turn over, but not fire. This indicated to me that it was an electrical problem that was not "allowing" the vehicle to start and not a problem with the starter. I tried starting the vehicle in...

Re: 2005 XC 90 V8 won't start

To be more clear. The lights come on and door dings sound fine. When I turn the key the lights go off, and there are not any clicks or anything, no noises. When I release the key, all the lights come back. Again, there is no clicking noises of any sort when trying to start.

2005 XC 90 V8 won't start

I went to start my V8 XC 90 this evening and all dash lights and headlights came on, but the engine would not turn over. I would turn the key and nothing. I attempted to jumpstart it with cables hooked to a different vehicle. Still nothing. Any help or thoughts what to look for would be appreciated....

Re: 2005 XC 90 V8 A/C Problems

Roger, I tend to agree with the problem potentially being elsewhere. Last week it was fairly mild temperatures here (~75-85F) and it was at least bearable to drive the vehicle, but it still was not as cold as I had hoped. I cannot get my head around what I am seeing and why it is happening the way i...

Re: 2005 XC 90 V8 A/C Problems

I have not tried the bread clip trick yet. I haven't had time to get back into it. If I remember correctly, the compressor does not look the same as the examples I had seen for the bread clip. I may not remember correctly, but I don't remember seeing three bolts in which to put them under.

Does anyone have a recommendation for a good, honest, independent Volvo mechanic in the Wichita Kansas area?

Re: 2005 XC 90 V8 A/C Problems

UPDATE - In my previous post the ambient temp outside was roughly 95-100F. Today after changing out the passenger ball joint and both sway bar connectors, I figured I was already in this far let's try to play with the a/c some more. I removed the plastic wheel well so I could see the a/c compressor....

2005 XC 90 V8 A/C Problems

I know there have been a lot of posts written about the A/C cooling issues and shimming. However, I have not found any that specifically identify how to diagnose the problem. My XC90 is cooling, but not properly. I first started by checking the R-134a pressures. I used the A/C Pro brand with gauge. ...

2005 XC90 V8 P2401 CEL

I recently changed out the fuel rail pressure sensor as my CEL had come on and indicated that the fuel rail had low pressure. After reading on this forum I changed out the fuel filter which did not correct the issue. I then changed out the fuel pressure sensor which eliminated the CEL. During this r...

Re: Looking for new XC90, need advice.

I do have a few issues on the V8 I am working through currently. First, I have a Check Engine Light on that brings up the code for fuel rail pressure. I have changed out the fuel filter and will be moving on to the sensors next. I need to do some more reading on this site before I attack that since ...
