Also check the official engine stalling thread on this forum. Lots to read. Please post the results from the visit to the shop. I'd be curious if at all related to the problem I had with 2000 V70 at about 65k mi. Turns out likely not the ETM in my case (which may be rare?) - my problem is oil foulin...

Oil fouling ETM - cleaning solved stalling

Reviewing all the posts on this topic it looked like one thread was associated with dirty ETM's early on from Guest, Guest orig and Andrew guest in May 05. My "me too" recent problem was a slowly degrading stalling problem when stopping or idling and loading the engine by turning the steer...

That would be difficult...

You are trying to get the front and back parking lights on, on just one side of the car, left or right, port or starboard, correct, not both sides? My Saab 900 did this by doing just as you said, put the light switch position to park and the turn signal indicator left or right and just that side wou...

Ignition won't turn

My wife had a similar problem on our 2000 V70 and I would have thought for sure I had your solution, except that you have lifted the front end and pulled the car with a tractor. In any event, She was parked on a hill with the wheels wedged against the curb and because of the pressure on the wheel lo...

Is there anyway to be certain it is the valves? And no flame trap?? Is there something that serves the same purpose on this model I should be paying attention to? You've got me thinking now. I was starting to look around for a used engine but a head wouldn't be that bad. I would call myself a margin...

It's a 2000. Driving initially was a long commute for the first 4 years but now is mostly very short trips with occassionaly long ones. Did both wet and dry and both showed low. Is that indicative of rings or valves? After some back and forth with the dealer they finally replaced the first ETM about...

Premature engine wear - low compression

Anyone experienced serious engine compression problems? Having suffered through two bad ETM's now have seriously bad compression in cylinders 3,4,5. Only 75k mi (some signs even earlier) and obviously haven't missed an oil change and the engine appears to be shot! My first Volvo is looking like my l...
