Hi all, hope everyone is well and keeping busy. I'm finally catching up on some overdue maintenance issues on my 98 S70 among other things. Regardless of what rust protection you use (on any vehicle) you need to make sure that you are able to get it into the insides of the frame rails. You'll want to check for unmetered air - so anything after the MAF. Check ALL of the intake hosing and associated clamps, you might need to smoke test the intercooler if you have a turbo setup.

Hi all, I am attempting to install a new HU in my 98 S70 with the SC-900 original HU. I have found the following Metra 70-9223 unit online that is supposed to allow the use of the factory amp through the DIN connection. Thanks for the info. I plan to just use an old battery on the bench and pulse it by hand, from what I have seen on the interwebs this should be fine for very short periods.

Voltage for fuel injectors

Hi all, I have managed to source a set of used fuel injectors for my 98 S70 (Bosch 0280155766). I want to do a full clean and backflush on the bench before attempting to install them as I have no idea what kind of condition they are in. CV shaft questions

Hi all - I am having some difficulties with the drivers (short side) CV shaft on my 98 S70. I had to do the outer boot on the passenger side when it split and did the inner as well and it went as expected. I thought I would be proactive and get the drivers side done as well before it developed a tea...

Sounds like it could be a bad/corroded ground connection. Try tracing the ground from the motor to the chassis. Or you could try running a new ground from the motor to a known good connection, I'd be inclined to try this first and see if it helps.

If the car "overheated and dumped coolant" I would be looking to determine the cause of the overheating and the location from which this dump took place. After you fix it yourself make a mental note to find a different mechanic or bone up on those skills yourself. If your mechanic can't do a simple strut replacement right I wouldn't trust them to change the oil.

1998 S70 shudder under braking

In reference to an earlier post I am experiencing some shudder under braking. It definitely feels like it is coming from the front end and I suspect that it is likely coming from bad or improperly installed pads as it is less noticeable under wet conditions - my thought process is that warped rotors...

I would think that balance would be an issue if the vibration was happening while cruising. This shudder is only present while braking when the car has significant momentum.

Re: S70 shudder under braking

To me it doesn't feel like warped rotors and there is no pulsating of the brake pedal. When I have experienced warped rotors before there was a noticeable pulsation of the pedal at almost any speed. You can feel it in the steering but it feels more like it is it coming from the frame.

Having a small issue with my new to me 98 S70. It its exhibitng a noticable shudder under braking at about 70-100km/hr but not at slower speeds. The "battery" is really an MIL for your entire charging system. I would suggest putting a meter across your battery with the engine running to see what king of voltage your alternator is putting to your battery. If this is less than 14-14.5V you may need to replace the brush pack or the whole altern...

Fix the coolant lines first and see if it still spins/boosts. If not, pick up a used turbo at a junkyard. Check it for play - if there's little-no horizontal play, stick it in the car and don't worry about it. +1 on this advice. I pulled the turbo off my 94 850 before scrapping it and it was not an...

Could also be a stuck overdrive relay or solenoid which will not let it shift into the higher overdrive gear. The relay is an easily replaceable plug in part. The solenoid can be modified fairly easily with a dremel or you can purchase a kit from iPD. Both fixes are easily searchable on the forums.
