Re: can someone give an over view of the Vida Dice?

yup, that makes sense, thanks for the help. I do have a problem with the volvo, posted in the thread entitled "perplexing no go problem". Basically, the power randomly cuts out, it may be related to engine temperature. There are no codes that can be read by a OBD2 reader, but that method I...

Re: can someone give an over view of the Vida Dice?

Oh I think I get it, so a Volvo specific OBD2 reader would just be a generic OBD2 reader with a volvo database built in, it would still not be able to read the more subtle error codes that may be thrown by the ECM. For example, I have a problem with my 01 xc70, and when I hit the rear fog light butt...

Re: can someone give an over view of the Vida Dice?

okay... I managed to read the whole thread and am still confused on one point. I am just interested in reading and clearing codes. Live data would be nice as well.

Can I do that with a more reputable Volvo specific OBDII scanner? If so, where can I purchase one of those?

Re: Perplexing No Go Problem

Hey thanks for the ideas DGM. I have not checked the temperature sensor. Is this the one in the charge air intake pipe? Next to the MAP sensor? That one may be old and crappy. I have not replaced it yet. I am assuming the thermostat is the original one, which would mean it was ten+ years old. Where ...

Re: Perplexing No Go Problem

This may be slightly related to engine temperature. It did it this morning, for quite awhile, until the entire engine bay came up to temp. The temperature gauge in the dash will jump up to operating temp pretty quickly, and the problem persists, but I think it may take some time for the heat to reac...

Perplexing No Go Problem

I am hoping someone can help me with a very mysterious problem on my 2001 XC70, 137k. Usually after letting the car sit for awhile, when I turn it back on, the car will not go above 2500rpm/20mph a period of time. Then, all of sudden, it will work fine. The problem will come back, but only for a sec...
