In my case it was the exhaust manifold gasket. I have seen another threads with similar symptoms and the problems was also the exhaust manifold gasket.
I don't think it is the gasket at the turbo, but I'm no expert...

Re: XC90 2.5T Oil Consumption
Mine with 105k has about the same consumption. I used M1 HM last time and oil consumption seems to be gone.

Re: Front end squeak
Have you checked your sway bar links? It would be more of a knock than a squeak though.

Re: Highway gas mileage on recent trip
During the summer I got around 23-24mpg in the highway with my XC90 2.5t AWD 100k miles. I looked and this is about the EPA estimates (actually slightly better than EPA estimates), so I wouldn't expect anything much better than that. You got pretty cold weather, so 18mpg could be reasonable. I saw a...

Re: Clicking Noise When Accelerating
My noise had nothing to do with shifting between P and R. I first noticed the noise when braking (at low speed), and then realized that it was also doing whenever I took my foot in or out the pedal (at low speed). It only happened once the car was warm, I was sure it was the transmission, but it was...

Re: Clicking Noise When Accelerating
I had a similar problem and solved it by changing the axle bolts with an updated version... Take a look at this thread (towards the end) https://www.matthewsvolvosite.com/forums ... 91#p234191

Re: Is 11.5mpg too low for a 04 2.5t?
I changed the spark plugs about a month ago, but didn't get any noticeable change.
I used Denso platinum TT and re-gapped them to 0.03. No ill effects from using non-OEM plugs, but no gains either.

Re: Is 11.5mpg too low for a 04 2.5t?
Thanks for the replies! I do check the air on my tires frequently and my alignment was OK when I changed the tires a few months ago. As for the oil, I'm using Mobil 1. Before that I used the Walmart full synthetic oil with MOS2 additive for an oil change, and I might have gotten better mpg. My ATF f...

Is 11.5mpg too low for a 04 2.5t?
I decided to check the mileage I was getting on my 04 2.5t with 101k miles and doing the calculation by hand gives me 11.5mpg. I think is fairly low, I was expecting something more like 14mpg (which is what the trip computer says). I do 100% city driving, short trips (not more than 5 miles), hardly ...

Re: Just put a deposit down on a 04 xc90
I did both. First time I tightened just the driver side and still was getting the ping, then I tightened the passenger side and all was quite for a while. Then it came back and I replaced both axle bolts, tightened to 50nm. I'm still getting the noise on the passenger side, that's why I'm asking abo...
