Looking up something else and came across this old post. Yes, swap was a success. Took about 40 hours of labor but the car has been running fine the past year. The 99 manual gave me what I needed.

2000 S70 B5244S engine
Replaced the engine in my sisters 2000 S70 FWD. 2.4 liter 4 valves/cylinder variable valve timing. She had a cracked radiator and ran the car out of coolant then then blew the motor. Not knowing the extent of the damage I bought a used engine and swapped it out for her. Engine is in one piece and pr...

Re: Will 1999 Haynes cover my 2000 S70?
Just an update. I finished the engine swap and all is well. The 99 Haynes had everything I needed for my 2000. My main confusion was the Haynes says it covers the 2.3 and 2.5 but I have a 2.4 I discovered that in 2000 the EU changed rules on how much the car maker can round up engine size. With the ...

Need help to identify this 1/2 moon piece
2000 S70, non turbo 5 valve Wrapping up an engine swap on this car and had this bracket laying next to the starter. Went to mount the starter and I can't figure or remember what this piece is for. It's possible it doesn't have anything to do with the starter and I set it down next to the starter by ...

Re: Whiteish compound on oil pan bolt threads
As far as I know this is the first time the pan has been off. It looks like a thread treatment of some sort. It's not on all the threads just a 1/4 to 3/8" spot in the middle of the bolt and it's only on the long bolts that go through the intermediate section to the block. Those that have pulle...

Whiteish compound on oil pan bolt threads
2000 S70 2.4L 4 valve non turbo Pulled the oil pan off today and the longer (4") bolts on each end of the oil pan have a whiteish compound on the threads. Any idea what this it? Is it just a thread locker? I've also seen the same compund on other random bolts, big and small. The smaller oil pan...

Re: Reuse torque converter bolts?
Awesome, I'll do the same. Choguy, you said they had red loctite on them. I thought you had to use heat to get a fastener back out that had red loctite. I've never used red on anything but have used a lot of blue. Just checked loctite.com and they said red has to be heated to 500F to be removed. Thi...
