Great information and pics. I have a 97 850, i ma sure the process is the same.

I tried replacing the links today and could not get them off the car with just a ratchet (probably using the wrong size ratchet). It looks like the bolt has an allen wrench fitting in the middle of it. What size ratchet, and what size allen wrench am I supposed to use? I hope this will fix the clunk...
