Re: 1998 GLT V70 Hard start below 30deg/studders
Just did this on my '00 V70xc. Engine cranked and turned over then died. If I held the gas pedal down it would keep running but only at idle speed regardless of how far the pedal was down. Jumped those terminals and it started right up, ran like a top. So I took the relay housing off...Holy God this...

Anyone know how many models share the same fuel pump relay with the 2000 v70xc? It's the big red one with 103 printed on top.

Re: '00 v70 variable grinding noise under load-BG or VC?
Took out the right axle today. Bearing and race on that side are perfect. Fluid looked good too, no silver and plenty full. Did notice that the rear axle seal was leaking. I'll look there next. Ran out of time today. Is there a special tool for removing the retaining ring on the right side? Banged o...

No numbers OR schematics? How is this possible? Has no one had to replace this? If a bearing goes out in this unit you have to replace the entire thing? Also, did you have thoughts on diagnosis?

'00 v70 variable grinding noise under load-BG or VC?
2000 V70 XC AWD. Noise started as subtle rapid repetative beat that went away when when off throttle. Has progressed over the last week+ to a much louder grinding noise; now it's a constant sound under load, louder as load increases, shakes steering wheel between 15 and 35 MPH. Becomes intermittent ...

Re: CEL code leading Volvo newbie on ghost hunt! Exp needed!
This link showed up on another forum. Another guy had two codes, P0422 and P0432. A replier posted two links, both for this site, one for each code and suggested that since both pages pointed to the Optical Sensor, he should start there. I looked at the P0422 page and and thought, "This site is ...

Re: P0422 code. Results of compression and MAF test.
Draser,
Thank you for the quick reply. I found the problem and edited my post. When I bolted down the #5 module (the one under the big black plastic tube (turbo?)) I pinched the black wire for the #4 module under the bolt. All better now other than feeling pretty stupid...and lucky.

P0422 code. Results of compression and MAF test.
Following some advice on solving my CEL light issue(P0422, no others) (Engine runs smoothly but my mileage is shit (Ave 15.5) and power seems lacking)I did spark plug check, cylinder compression, and MAF tests today. All plugs looked good except #4. On that one the electrode looked good but the cera...

Re: O2 Sensor S70
The sensor is very easy to replace. As simple as replacing a bolt. The only trick is that you need a special O2 sensor socket which is usually just a deep well socket with a groove cut up the side to accommodate the wires sticking out the back of the sensor. Just unclip the harness, back out the sen...
