Re: 940 intermittent problem

[quote="billofdurham"]Have you checked for fault codes? Your car has the On Board Diagnostic unit in the engine compartment. No code reader needed.

Thanks Bill. I am not familiar with the On Board Diagnostic unit. Can you point me to a reference that I can read?

Re: 940 intermittent problem

[quote="quillc"]sounds like you have a problem with mass air sensor.

Thanks for the reply...........I have had other Volvo's ( 240s and 740s) and when the air mass meter failed, it was not intermittent. Is it your experience that it is different on the 940? Clay

940 intermittent problem

My 940 Volvo (160K) is a great car and I have always managed to troubleshoot and repair anything that has needed attention..........until now. The car stall out without warning but not every day. It seemed like a fuel problem so I replaced the fuel pump (Regina System) and the fuel relay. All seemed...

850 Volvo, Fan Blower Control Problem

My 1996 Volvo blower fan only works on the highest setting. All the fuses are good and I have replaced the resistory network in hopes of fixing this problem without luck. From physical inspection, the blower switch looks fine. It seems like it might be a ground problem but that would not explain the...

Oxygen Sensor for S80

The check engine codes show that I need to replace the front oxygen sensor/s on my 1999 Volvo S80 (2.9 liter engine). If possible, I would like to use a oxygen sensor. Anyone had any luck doing this? If so, any advice on what brand or type to purchase?

Brakes Gone Bad??

I have a 1994 850 that has, what seems like, very poor braking cability despite having replaced all pads and rotors and with no warning lights coming on. I have to apply a lot of pressure on the brake pedal to make it stop within a reasonable distance. I have taken the car to two different national ...

850 Heat Fan, High Speed Only

I have a '96 850 and heater/ac 4 speed fan only works on the high speed. I changed out the fan resistor network (no fun !) but the fan still only runs on high speed. I checked the fused and it seems unlikely that it's the switch. Anyone else seen this problem and have a suggestion what I should chec...
