went unto the fuse box
well
gutted the thing really
found a burned wire
ended up pulling the whole box apart and lifting it part way out of the car
had to disconnect all of the relays to do it
inside under the dash and outside
the wire was melted into a bunch of other wires
pealed it away from all ...

i haven't been down into the fuse box for a while
i'll go back in once it stops raining
it didn't look bad
is it possible that the oil coming out of the top of the engine could have fouled the CPS?
if that is the case then could a thorough cleaning solve it?
when i go into the fuse box i'll pull ...

sorry for the delay in responding
so far i've changed the TPS and now the coil
TPS because that is what the code suggested
and the coil b/c it wasn't giving the correct readings when i bench tested it for resistance ect
and it was showing signs of arcing around the main coil body

i've pulled apart ...

i've been reading and rereading everything in this forum about this sucker and keep coming up with nothing concrete
one day the car works it's normal old self and the next exactly nothing
OBD II comes up with P0120
bad TPS
changed that
cranks along just fine
won't catch
up arrow of death
heading out ...

while driving in Vermont last weekend, i discovered that front tires on my girlfriends 850 had pretty much no tread left on them except the outer edge.
figured this out trying to get up an icy hill, when i started going backwards!!!
once i got onto dry ground, i found that the drivers side front ...

apparently my trickle charger just wasn't up to the task
and the full size charger that i thought wasn't working actually is working
and i did finally find someone who could give me that jump start
that's one of the hardest parts of being self employed, everyone else is at work

any way
took a bit ...

that's a big no both ways
i'll leave them on the chargers and see if i can find a jump for now

the extra icing on the cake is that after i finished off the volvo i was working on my MB 300sd and left the doors open to dry out the inside
also for 5+ hours and killed the battery on that one too

in the process i had turned the ignition on so i could get power back to the wiper motor
that thing is basically huffed and ultimately not the issue i face now
