The SAGA Continues! 98 S70-Advice for Gasket & Filler Pipe replacement
Hey Folks, I'm in need of your knowledge and experience again... I've hit a wall with the One way valve that's at the end of the filler pipe and inserts into the gas tank OneWay.PNG Any suggestions for removing it w/o creating a spark? Should I buy a sacrificial chicken to make an offering to the Vi...

Re: 98 S70-Advice for Gasket & Filler Pipe replacement
And I hope it is not too woefully late to bring this up but, a very common source of leaks at the fuel pump is an aging fuel pump gasket. Are you going to check/replace hoses on top of the tank, is that your thinking here? Should have asked this earlier, oops! I'll keep the gasket in mind. When I i...

Re: 98 S70-Advice for Gasket & Filler Pipe replacement
Did you remove the two torx screws holding the filler neck in place? You access those under the fuel door, from the outside of the car. And the wires are all unhooked from the pump? Yup, Torx off, Wires, disconnected, wire circlip that holds rubber cover on filler neck, removed Oh OK I think I see,...

Re: 1998 S70 P0171 vacuum leak, bad hoses 9155862
Hi everyone, When I dealt with dreaded P0171 and it’s various cousins buggering up the fuel/air mix it was all about replacing the worn out vacuum lines/hoses. I recommend even if you get things set for this year’s smog check, work your way through replacing all the lines/hoses, especially if you li...

Part Duex! 98 S70-Advice for Gasket & Filler Pipe replacement
Erik or any of you terrific folks, Yesterday I was more than an hour into jacking the car up, labeling wires and hoses, and encountered a problem. I started to lower the gas tank but the front portion wouldn’t drop with the rear. In “how to” guide a 10mm clamp is mentioned in the section describing ...

98 S70-Advice for Gasket & Filler Pipe replacement
I have the dreaded P0442 and tried all the easy fixes but alas I believe my car is throwing this code because of a small leak at the gas tank/filler pipe. I am thinking of attempting the DIY fix posted https://www.matthewsvolvosite.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=60291#p307503 but I have a few questions ...

Re: 05 V50t5 Coolant loss but did not overheat?
J, I'm not really experienced, but I would start with the thermostat and the engine temp sensor. In older cars the thermostat is cheap and simple to fix, and when they go, they can cause the car to overheat and the needle in the instrument panel won't raise. I had a 240 with a sticky thermostat and ...

1998 S70 Leaking red fluid (Man Trans)
Hi Everyone, This is a rookie question. Is manual transmission fluid the same color as automatic transmission fluid? I haven't owned a manual transmission without my dad being around, and I have no idea what color the tranny fluid in a stick. :D I'm trying to figure out what type of fluid my car is ...
